Directions:
STEP 1
Clear the floor of all furniture, rugs and carpets.
Ensure the surface to be varnished is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, oil or other contamination. If wax has been used clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit prior to sanding. Bare wood should be sanded to a smooth surface, always working with the grain. Sound, previously varnished surfaces need only a light sanding. Existing varnished surfaces which are unsound or in poor condition can be stripped back to bare timber with Blackfriar Professional Paint and Varnish Remover.
STEP 2
Stir the Blackfriar Quick Drying Floor Varnish thoroughly prior to use. Using either a brush or a roller, follow the grain of the wood and apply 3 coats (onto new wood) or 2 coats (onto previously varnished wood) according to the instructions on the back of the can. (Recoat after 4 hours and within 3 days). Prior to application of the final coat or if the overcoating time is exceeded, lightly sand with fine glass paper working with the grain and remove the dust.
When applying to new or bare wood, thin the first coat with up to 10% water.
STEP 3
Leave the final coat to dry for 4 hours and do not wash the varnished surface for at least 3 days after the application has been applied.
Clean brushes in water after use.
